Wyoming Community Foundation

What is WYCF? It is a non-governmental, publicly supported foundation, governed by a self-perpetuating board of citizens, and making grants from individual funds contributed or bequeathed by individuals, families, corporations, nonprofit organizations and other sources. Since its inception in 1989, the WYCF has made $28.3 million in nearly 7000 grants to Wyoming nonprofits. In 2011, the WYCF awarded $2.9 million in grants.Via: http://www.wycf.org/
One may be curious as to what this means. Allow me to explain, WYCF is basically a big, huge, non-profit company of which invests not just a little bit but ALL of their time into making life better for the residents who reside within the state of Wyoming.   They were founded about 20 years ago and since then, a lot of things have changed.
One of the things of which WYCF has changed is in the way that they have actually raised $71 million within the last 20 years in order to put forth in making Wyoming a better place to be. WYCF only started with about half of a million dollars and from that time. They have continuously been representing both statewide as well as locally governed governed philanthropic interests. WYCF now has about 22 funds with advosory boards.
Within their first 10 years, WYCF has accumulated great financial growth with net assets growing slightly over $1.1 million in 1991 to almost $24 million in the year 2000. Today WYCF manages about 300 funds while also staying at the cutting edge philanthropy by conducting three competitive grant cycles a year as well as administering scholarships for high school graduates, librarians, and apprentices in the trades!
All in all, WYCF has clearly made some great changes within the state of Wyoming. Now, the question lies with you. What is it that you can make a difference? What can you do to make $24 million worth of a difference?
